Old business
Membership form
The discussion about tiered membership was tabled at the December meeting and resumed at the January meeting. After discussion, Patrick moved that we accept the membership form included in the Winter 2021 newsletter. The form does have include tiered membership. The two options are individual membership ($10) and household membership ($20). Additional lines for donations and for more than one member name and email addresses are included. Kay seconded the motion.
Postcards
Tress has started sending the new “Thank you for your support” postcards to all new and renewing members. If an additional donation is included, she acknowledges that, too.
Foundation meeting
Kandy and Megan attended the Foundation meeting on Zoom. They found the group welcoming and think the Foundation and FOL could have a collegial relationship in the future although the two groups are quite different in focus.
FriendShop
There was a brief discussion about how to approach the recruitment of a new manager for the shop. Months ago, at Linda Falken’s request, Kandy talked with Brian Tibetts (who has lots of retail experience)and Tress Connolly (who has lots of volunteer management experience) about a feasible approach. She reported that both suggested to wait and see who and what we will be working with before looking for a new manager.
Sustainable Shelves (SS)
Megan explained the method for scanning books with smart phones to get book information required, the current genres wanted, and the method of sending. Megan or Kandy will ask Jeff if we can arrange to pick up books that are in the shop to take home to scan to see if this method is feasible. In the meantime, Megan will test method at home and research other like-businesses.
New business
Bylaws committee
Hal invited members interested in rewriting the bylaws to form a committee. He proposed a method of working through them.
The next Board meeting is scheduled for February 11at 2 o’clock.
Susan moved to adjourn the meeting and Megan seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 2:58.
Respectfully submitted,
Tress Connolly, Secretary
